The excitement is building as the first CARS Tour race of the season approaches this Saturday, February 28th, at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, North Carolina. Driving the #31 Whelen Manufacturing sponsored Pro Late Model, Brody Monahan is set to make his debut on this 0.4-mile high-banks asphalt track.

For Brody Monahan, this will be his first time racing at Southern National. The track’s unique layout requires a sense of strategy and adaptability. Drivers must balance speed with tire management to manage the abrasive surface over the course of a long race.

Returning to the seat after an impressive run at Speedweeks in mid-February, Monahan has steadily built a reputation as a talented driver in the Pro Late Model scene. Sponsored by Whelen Manufacturing and other associate partners, his #31 car is equipped with top-tier components and prepared by Scott Anderson in the Mooresville, North Carolina team's race shop.

While Monahan Motorsports plans to expand into a driver development operation, Brody will fill the seat until a funded driver steps in to take over.

What to Expect on Race Day

Race day at Southern National Motorsports Park on Saturday will be packed with excitement. Fans can expect:

  • Grandstands opening at 12:45pm ET

  • Qualifying at 1:10pm

  • Green flag at 3:00pm for 100 laps of racing

  • Live broadcast on FloRacing for fans that cannot be in attendance

Brody’s goal is to make a strong impression of Monahan Motorsports' entry into the CARS Tour by a top 5 qualifying effort and a clean finish to the race. His team will focus on giving him the best car possible to execute on raceday.

Looking Ahead Beyond Southern National

While this race is a milestone for Monahan Motorsports, it’s just the beginning for what's in store for the team this year. Banking on a successful debut in the CARS Tour, Monahan Motorsports plans to race full time in the Pro Late Model division with a driver to be announced at a later date. Each race offers new opportunities to expand the notebook of crew chief Scott Anderson while contending for wins each time the racecar hits the track.
