Brody Monahan’s CARS Tour championship hopes come down to 100 laps this weekend at South Boston Speedway.

Entering the season finale, Monahan sits 18 points back from the championship lead, keeping him firmly in the hunt as the series heads to its most important night of the year. He will pilot the Monahan Motorsports No. 31 with support from Whelen Engineering, looking to close out a strong season with one more complete run.

A Title Fight on the Line at South Boston Speedway

South Boston Speedway will set the stage for the final chapter of the CARS Tour season, and it's the first time the CARS Tour has crowned their champions at this speedway since 2021. For Monahan, the equation is clear enough. He needs a strong qualifying effort (ideally the pole), a clean race (preferrably a victory), and every point he can earn across the 100-lap feature.

Championship finales rarely come down to speed alone. Track position, tire management, restarts, and late-race discipline all matter. At South Boston, where momentum can change quickly, Monahan and the No. 31 team will need to execute from the moment the car rolls off the hauler.

The gap is 18 points, but the opportunity is still there.

Consistency has Kept Monahan in the Hunt

Monahan’s position in the standings reflects the steady approach he and the team have shown throughout the year. While wins and headline moments always matter, consistency often decides championships. The No. 31 has remained in the mix deep into the season, giving the team a chance to race for the title on the final weekend. This season, Brody has accumulated 8 top 10s and 4 top 5s of the 10 races this ran.

That is a major step for Monahan Motorsports in its first year in the CARS Tour as an established Pro Late Model team. The program has shown it can compete across the schedule, build week to week, and arrive at the finale with something meaningful still on the line.

No matter how the championship plays out, the season has already marked an important year for the organization.

How to watch the season finale

Qualifying for the CARS Tour season finale is scheduled for 3:00pm, with racing set to begin at 5:30pm.

All coverage will be available live on FloRacing. Fans can also follow along through Monahan Motorsports social media, where updates will be posted throughout the weekend.

The path to a championship runs through South Boston. One race remains, and the #31 team has one final chance to make its mark in history.
